A new AdSense interface: now in beta

Google announced “that a small group of publishers will begin testing a new AdSense interface in limited beta. Inspired by the feedback we’ve heard directly from you, the new interface includes features designed around your top three requests.”

Google pretends that it will :

Provide insights to help you make more informed decisions about your sites.
Offer you more control over the ads that appear on your sites.
Help you manage your account more efficiently.

Since yesterday, when logged on Google.com and by clicking on Settings then Google Account Settings you should see a link saying Dashboard - View data stored with this account. (You can directly click here https://www.google.com/dashboard/)

“You might be surprised how much Google knows in case you’ve already forgotten a service or two you’ve signed up with. One thing to watch out for on the page is a little blue icon meaning “this bit is public”. At the bottom of the page, Google disclaims that 32 more products haven’t yet been made part of Dashboard (and it’s probably worth noting that Google may also not intend to list every single bit, like log files containing your IP or so.)” (Philipp Lenssen from blogoscoped)

Google announces Google Wave Apps Store

It’s official, Google Wave will have his app store with more than just applications. A lot of developpers were aware of the Google Wave API which allows to everyone to make some bots or widgets to include in the Waves.

Google realised quickly that the API offered wasn’t enough to touch people, they decided consequently to announce a Google Wave Application Store at the Google GTUG yesterday. No informations were announced about a date of delivery but, knowing the growing of the Android Market Place, the Apple App Store must be frightened.

Whereas the Google Wave “BOOM” is not yet finished, Mozilla unleashes Raindrop : “an exploration in messaging innovation being led by the team responsible for Thunderbird, to explore new ways to use Open Web technologies to create useful, compelling messaging experiences”.

“Raindrop also wants to pull in messages from Twitter (Twitter), Facebook (Facebook), IM, and eventually any other communication platform with an API. Direct messages and @replies would be seen as more important and therefore foregrounded over regular not specifically to you messages. The idea is to make a people-centric communication tool that brings your various services together in one interface, instead of constantly playing a game of “find that browser tab” when you want to check up on a particular conversation or thread.” (Barb Dybwad from Mashable)

Actually, SEO experts know that PageRank is no more than 1% of the signals that can affect how your site is indexed. I see you asking “So why Google does not remove it from the toolbar ?”. I will answer “Maybe because PageRank is a lot of their branding ?”.

Susan Moskwa, Google Webmaster Trends Analyst, said :

“We’ve been telling people for a long time that they shouldn’t focus on PageRank so much; many site owners seem to think it’s the most important metric for them to track, which is simply not true. You want a Google Wave invitation ? All of the 100 000 promised by Google have already been sent. Each lucky guy among these 100 000 has 8 invitations (or recommendations) to send. Everything will be viral, these people will invite their friends, who will invite their friends too, etc etc. You just have to wait for invitations in your seat, they will reach you.
